First aid – basic training and repetition

The first aid course provide you with the required information and skills to be able to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. To keep the certification obtained in the basic training, please make sure to take the repetition course every two years.

Course objectives

To provide you with the required information, skills and attitude to be able to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid to save lives in case of accidents.

NB! To keep the certification obtained in the basic training, please make sure to take the repetition course every 24. months.

Course content

The course consists of two modules (on the same day) with the following content.

Module 1: First aid in case of cardiac arrest - four hours (basic training)

  • The four main elements of first aid
  • State of consciousness
  • ABC method
  • Recovery position
  • Chain of survival
  • Basic resuscitation
  • Using defibrillators (AED)
  • Practice-based scenarios with an emphasis on practicing the four main elements
     

Module 2: First aid in case of accidents - two hours

  • Make the situation safe and stop the accident: accidents involving electricity, traffic accidents, drowning accidents, hanging and strangulation, accidents involving wells and silos, accidents involving machines and fire accidents
  • Moving an injured person
  • Assessing what state the injured person is in and performing life-saving first aid – including the ABC method and removing foreign objects from the person’s Airways
  • Calling for help – call out, call 112 or contact a doctor
  • First aid for injured persons with impaired consciousness and injured persons who breathe normally, including recovery position
  • First aid in case of signs of failure of the circulatory system
  • Psychological first aid
  • Practice-based scenarios with an emphasis on practicing the four main elements

Course of repetition

Conditions for participating on the course

You should be in the possession of a valid first aid certificate (maximum 24 months old to keep your certificate).

Course objectives

To inform the participants on how to review new initiatives within first aid, and maintenance of their knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
