How to approve holiday and absence requests

If an employee requests vacation or absence through self-service in mitHR, the request is sent to the employee's line manager for approval. A request for approval is also sent when changing or deleting already planned and registered holidays and absences.

When the request is approved/rejected, the employee receives a message in mitHR.

If the line manager has delegated the approval to another person, the line manager does not receive an approval.

See instructions on how to delegate approval to another person here: How to delegate approvals in mitHR

Absence registered by an administrative user (secretary/HR) or manager does NOT trigger approval for a line manager.

Receiving requests

mitHR front page

The line manager receives requests for vacation and absence for approval both directly in mitHR on the front page under "Things to finish". The request can be approved directly from here.

You can also open the approval and see more details by clicking on the text. You can also approve from the window, with the more detailed overview.

The bell

The holiday and absence request also appears in "the bell" in the upper right-hand corner.

If you press the bell, the request is displayed and can be approved/rejected directly from here.

Mail

The request is also sent to the line manager as an email and can be approved directly from the email.

If the request is approved by email, the request notification will automatically disappear from mitHR (the bell) within 30 minutes at the latest.
