Employees do not have a right to receive a ‘recommendation’ or ‘reference’ from their employer. It is up to the individual manager to decide whether to write one if requested by the employee.
If the employee is dismissed, the university must inform the employee of the reason for the dismissal on request if the employee is covered by the Danish Salaried Employees Act (Funktionærloven) directly, or in accordance with a collective agreement, see section 2(7) of the Danish Salaried Employees Act.
