There will be particular emphasis on "good communication" at Aarhus University over the next six months. As part of this initiative, managers, members of liaison committees and the occupational health and safety organisation have been invited to take part in workshops on how they can spearhead good communication. Rector Brian Bech Nielsen has launched the initiative together with HAMU and HSU on the basis of the results of the psychological workplace assessment carried out in 2016.
Independent Research Fund Denmark has granted a total of DKK 165 million to the Sapere Aude research leadership programme. Researchers from Aarhus University will be receiving seven of the 29 prestigious allocations.
Earlier in the week, an internal conference at Aarhus University focused on new needs and development opportunities in the field of further training and education. At this conference, staff with an interest in further training and education had the opportunity to swap stories and get inspiration from external providers, buyers and others. This conference follows in the wake of the third party agreement on further training and education which was recently published by the government.

Here are some of the results from this year's university elections, which also included the election of VIPs to both boards of study and PhD committees.
Aarhus University has worked together with five of Denmark's other universities, the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education and the European Spallation Source in Lund (ESS), and agreed to reinforce the partnership and knowledge sharing between ESS and research locations in Denmark. The agreement, which focuses on material research, was concluded on Monday 20 November and was signed by dean Niels Christian Nielsen on behalf of Aarhus University. The dean calls this agreement a milestone in the strategy for making Denmark into one of the world's leading centres for research into hard, soft and biological materials, highlighting the recently opened Centre for Integrated Materials Research at AU (iMAT) as an important contribution.
This week, Aarhus University celebrated the 30th anniversary of Erasmus+. The occasion was marked with visits from partner universities in the Coimbra network. Over the past few years, AU has found that more and more students are opting for exchanges as part of their education. Pro-rector Berit Eika emphasises that Erasmus+ has played an important part in building bridges and breaking down barriers across European borders.
It's now time once again to apply for international and internal fellowships at AIAS. All academic disciplines are welcome. The deadline is in late January and early February. AU researchers are encouraged to share this news in their international networks.
Professor Ole Bækgaard will be taking over as the manager of the National Institute of Public Health from early 2018. He was previously a Professor of Medical Physiology at the Department of Biomedicine and also runs his own company.
