How do we define good leadership?

Use dialogue on good leadership as an opportunity for your leadership team to improve your decision-making about delegation, organisational structure, strategy and your leadership mission statement.
We offer leadership groups at AU assistance with dialogue facilitation in connection with the implementation of the delegation provisions.

Target audience

We offer facilitation to leadership teams that have a shared responsibility and interest in leading parts of the university's core mission. Examples include faculty leadership teams, department/school leadership teams and deputy director teams. We recommend that the faculty/administration leadership team dialogues take place before dialogues in leadership teams at subordinate levels.

What's in it for you?

  • An opportunity to discuss ‘How do we define good leadership?’ in the context of the seven dimensions of leadership shown in the illustration.
  • Support for implementation of the delegation provisions: The dialogue enables you to make better-qualified decisions about organisational structure, strategy, your leadership mission statement, personal leadership identity, etc.
  • An opportunity to align what you stand for and what kind of leadership fosters good results.
  • Tools to communicate your understanding of good leadership to new leaders - and invite a stimulating dialogue.
  • Insight into material used for new manager assessment and leadership development interviews.

Leadership consultants from AU HR, Development and Work Environment offer help facilitating leadership dialogues free of charge. We deal with all enquiries as quickly as possible – there may be a wait.

Why is this relevant to the delegation provisions?

A regular leadership dialogue contributes to more professional leadership and promotes the kind of leadership that provides the best support for the university’s core mission. For example, this is an opportunity to:

  • consider what kind of organisation best contributes to effective performance.
  • communicate what good leadership means to you, to new managers to whom leadership tasks and responsibility are being delegated.
