AU IT delivers SIF and is working on an implementation across the whole of AU to support the Regulations for storing and managing research data
If you are working with general or non-sensitive research data we recommend using SIF's sister facility, ERDA, which offers more flexibility and functionality.
As an AU employee you can create a project in SIF and you can share your data with colleagues from AU. If you belong to either of these groups you can also gain access to a project that already exists in SIF. To access SIF, you first need to sign up and set up the 2-factor-authorisation. In Guides we walk you through the process.
We've collected all the information we think you'll need in the User Manual, but you're welcome to contact us if you can't find what you're looking for.
On this page we'll quickly run through how to use some of the basic functions in SIF, to get you started.
You can manage and open your projects from the SIF project management page.
To create a project, click the 'Create Project' tab.
If your project contains GDPR-data, choose Record Number and enter your number from the AU Record.
If your project contains GDPR-data, you must register it with the Record before you can create a project in SIF. You can read more about the Record here: link. Once you've entered your Record number, click Create.
If your project does not contain GDPR-data, choose General Sensitive Data, and click Create.
To invite colleagues to work with you in SIF you start by clicking Invite Participant and picking the relevant project. Please note that you can only invite people who already have their own SIF account. Pick your project from the drop down menu, click Registered Email of Existing User, and enter your colleague's email. Click Invite to finish.
Click Project Info in project management, pick which project you want to examine, and click Info. In the pop up window you'll see a.o. date of creation, owner, and invitations.
If a user no longer needs access to your project, you, as the owner, must remove them. Click on the Remove Participant tab and pick your project in the Project drop down menu. Pick the participant you want to remove in the User drop down menu and click Remove.
You've received an email from SIF telling you you've been invited to take part in a project. Log in to SIF and click on the Accept Invitation tab. In the drop down menu under Accept project invitation pick the project you'll be working on and click Accept. You'll now be taken to the Open Project tab, where you can choose the project and start working on it.
