Fire safety review at the Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts has initiated a fire safety review of all buildings used by Arts students and staff.

What will the review cover?

An external fire safety consultant has been appointed to carry out the review with a focus on the following, among other things:

  • Review of existing documentation
  • Physical fire safety inspection of buildings and relevant rooms
  • Alarm and notification systems
  • Occupant load for each building, floor and room
  • Escape routes and exits
  • Technical installations
  • Furniture and equipment

The review will result in a report outlining any required remedial actions and recommendations.

Impact on activities

The review covers teaching facilities, offices, common areas, and technical facilities. Research, teaching and day-to-day work may be affected during the periods when a building is being inspected and again during any subsequent remedial work that may be required.

Timeline

The timeline may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Managers in affected areas will be notified by email one week prior to the fire safety review.
