SIF at AU

SIF (Sensitive Information Facility) is AU's digital solution for secure, effective, and responsible storage of sensitive research data, including research data that contains personal data.

SIF must only be used in accordance with the system's guidelines, that define the general minimal framework at AU for the handling of sensitive research data in SIF. The guidelines have been implemented and supplemented at each faculty, to best reflect local research practice. Contact your local coordinator below to access the local guidelines for SIF.

SIF local organisation

SIF has an anchor point at each faculty, that among others offers data management support and access to the mandatory SIF user course. You must complete the course before using SIF.

Support, questions, and comments

If you encounter system errors or functions in SIF that do not operate as described, we would very much like to hear from you.

To ensure that our support is as effective as possible, please include information about your operating system and browser in your query. You can check which operating system and browser you're using at www.whatismybrowser.com or detectmybrowser.com. Screen shots are particularly useful in this context too, because they let us see exactly what you're seeing.

Contact us via sif-info.it@au.dk.

SIF Research Data

SIF can be used to store sensitive research data.

In other words, you can store your research data in SIF if any of the following apply to them:

  • They contain personal data
  • When you know for certain that your research results will be patented
  • They contain confidential information or IP-covered material from a third party
  • They are of strategic importance, e.g. because sharing can pose a threat (URIS-data)
  • They form part of research subject to export control
  • They must, for any other reason, be protected from unauthorised access

If these points do not apply to your research data, we recommend storing them in ERDA instead of SIF.
