How to encrypt your USB flash drive

Follow these six steps (for PCs)

Step 1

Start by locating your USB flash drive on your computer under This PC. Right-click on your USB flash drive and select Turn on BitLocker.

Step 2

Tick the box Use a password to unlock the drive, enter your password in both fields, and click Next.

Step 3

You must now choose to save your password so you do not forget it. We recommend that you either choose Save in a file or Print recovery key. Remember, however, that you should not store your printout together with your USB flash drive.

Step 4

Select Encrypt entire drive (slower but best for PCs and drives already in use).

Step 5

Select Compatibility mode (best for drives that can be removed from this unit), because your USB flash drive is mobile.

Step 6

You are now finished; select Start encryption.
